The Art of Greg “Craola” Simkins
It wasn’t a surprise to walk into a packed house at Gallery 1988 this past Friday night as Greg “Craola” Simkins debuted his latest body of work, Story Teller. In this collection, Greg continues his exploration of a surreal narrative in which dreams and children’s books collide. His genius vision of a world with hybrid creatures and storybook royalty delicately woven into a wonderous tapestry allows us to become immerse into the work, identify with and be in awe of it all at the same time.
In addition to the new works, Greg released his, Drawn from the Well, book. Greg was signing all evening as people were lined up around the block waiting patiently. Beautifully done, the special edition hard cover book contains 300 pages of drawing archives.
If you weren’t able to attend the opening, enjoy the pics below, but be sure to check out the works in person. Story Teller runs until November 26th.
