‘Round the Hood: Shepard Fairey in Malibu

June 12, 2011 by Stephanie - No Comments

If you find yourself dining at Cafe Habana in the Malibu Country Mart, make it a point to check out their patio. Tucked away in the corner of the restaurant’s outdoor seating is a great Shepard Fairey mural that interprets Cuban culture with elements of currency and propaganda-style imagery in addition to his infamous Obey Giant image and Mujer Fatal.

Obviously this was a commissioned wall and not so much an “illegal” discovery, however it was exciting to see the artist’s work outside of the context of Los Angeles streets and in a quiet secluded beach town like Malibu. It made our lunch that much more enjoyable.
