To walk into the back room of Known Gallery on May 5th was to enter a whimsical wonderland filled with inanimate objects springing to life as if in an animation film reminiscent of our youth. Inspired by married life, sexually suggestive foods and LA architecture, Dabs Myla continue upon themes of domestic bliss in their latest exhibit, ‘Break Night Lovers’.
Stylistically, the show is a compelling blend of graffiti and vintage animation, but Dabs Myla inject their own spin on it that’s too engrossing to be ignored. From a rainbow wrapped room to the capricious characters on canvas to a 1950s fridge filled with salacious meat and dairy products, the Aussie duo gives the viewer a glimpse inside their newlywed pad and into the creative minds of Dabs Myla. Show runs until May 19th.
