On September 22nd, New Image Art Gallery will present “Here Comes Purple,” a solo exhibition by Los Angeles artist Megan Whitmarsh. In her third solo with New Image Art, Whitmarsh will exhibit sculpture, wall pieces and giant fabric collage. Working primarily in textiles, her re-fabrication of cultural and personal ephemera results in a rueful yet bold kind of Pop art.
Whitmarsh describes her work as, “an organizing of cultural and personal ephemera which is my reckoning of the overwhelming yet compelling aspects of the universe. I want to make “new” things which admit their history. New to myself and new to the world if possible.”
